Stokvels | There are about 800,000 stokvels in SA

JOHANNESBURG – Absa launched its Inaugural Stokvel Awards to celebrate the tradition of money-saving circles in South Africa.
Winners will share R1-million in prize money in November.
According to a survey by Ipos there are 11-million members of approximately 800,000 stokvels across the country. 
They’ve been able to save over R50-billion over the years.
